A ritual is a set of actions, performed mainly for their symbolic and often spiritual value. One of the characteristics of a ritual is that it is usually performed more than once and has a well-defined, or prescribed, way of being done.
Ritual is a vital part of the relationship between a Master and his slave. It allows the nature of the slave's relationship to his Master to be expressed. Just standing around knowing that he is slave is usually not enough to satisfy any need or desire the slave might have. Being able to feel it and being able to express it both to himself and to his Master can be very satisfying indeed. A ritual can directly satisfy the need for a slave to express his slave nature. A slave will be trained to show respect to and worship his Master through rituals which in turn enables the slave to naturally express his feelings towards his Master in the way the Master wants this done.
Exactly what form a self-created ritual will have will vary depending on its purpose. It will still be, as all rituals are, a series of actions, sometimes including speech, performed the same way each time. Rituals serve many different purposes: for attitudes or postures adopted in relation to the Master, or for devotional and respectful behaviour towards objects belonging to the Master, or for a means of deepening and strengthening a slave’s connection with his slavery, or for certain ways of performing regular tasks given by the Master, or for showing worship and respect to the Master. Rituals are naturally a powerful way of infusing spirituality into the Master-slave relationship and many rituals are influenced by established religious ritualistic patterns, actions, methods of worship and prayers.
